New Hilton Honors Credit Cards Launch in Mexico
Hilton, INVEX, and Mastercard launch the first Hilton Honors credit cards in Mexico, providing instant Gold status and accelerated points for travelers.
New Hilton Honors Credit Cards Launch in Mexico
Hilton, INVEX Banco, and Mastercard launched the first Hilton Honors co-branded credit cards in Mexico today. The two new cards, the Hilton Honors INVEX and the Hilton Honors INVEX Premium, give travelers instant elite status and new ways to accumulate points through daily spending.
Comparing the Hilton Honors INVEX and Premium Tiers
The rollout includes two distinct card options that suit different spending levels. Both the Hilton Honors INVEX and the Hilton Honors INVEX Premium cards have no annual fee during the first year of ownership. Each card targets a specific segment of the Hilton Honors loyalty program, from entry-level benefits to luxury perks.
Hilton Honors INVEX This card is for travelers who want a simple path to elite status.
- Welcome Bonus: Cardholders earn 20,000 Hilton Honors points after they spend $15,000 MXN within the first three months. An additional 15,000 points are available after a spend of $100,000 MXN in a calendar year.
- Point Earning: This card earns 18x points per dollar at Hilton properties, 3x points on travel and grocery purchases, and 2x points on all other spending.
- Elite Status: The card includes automatic Silver status. This status provides award nights with no blackout dates and discounts on spa services at all-inclusive properties.
- Status Milestone: Spend $200,000 MXN in a calendar year to reach Gold status.
Hilton Honors INVEX Premium The premium tier is for frequent travelers who want higher earning rates and immediate luxury perks.
- Welcome Bonus: Cardholders earn 40,000 Hilton Honors points after they spend $35,000 MXN in the first three months.
- Anniversary Perk: Spend $200,000 MXN in a calendar year to receive a free night award for use at Hilton properties worldwide.
- Point Earning: This card has a 28x point multiplier at Hilton hotels, 5x points on travel, groceries, gas, and restaurants, and 3x points on all other purchases.
- Elite Status: The card includes automatic Gold status. This status provides room upgrades (subject to availability) and daily food and beverage credits or complimentary continental breakfast.
- Travel Perks: The card includes four annual visits to Lounge Key airport lounges.
- Status Milestone: Spend $300,000 MXN in a calendar year to reach Diamond status.
“With our new credit cards, we are present for our members in the ways that matter most—offering Hilton Honors points, exclusive member benefits, and unique access to experiences,” said Mark Weinstein, Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Luxury Brands at Hilton.
The Math: Maximizing the 5th Night Free Benefit
One of the most significant advantages of the Hilton Honors program is the “5th night free” benefit on award stays. This benefit applies when you book a stay of five consecutive nights entirely with points. Because the Premium card allows for rapid point accumulation, travelers can use this math to significantly lower the cost of luxury vacations.
Consider a hypothetical stay at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal near Los Cabos International Airport (SJD). If a standard room costs 100,000 Hilton Honors points per night, a five-night stay would normally require 500,000 points. However, with the 5th night free benefit, the total cost drops to 400,000 points.
By using the Premium card to earn 28x points at Hilton properties, you reach this threshold much faster than with standard bank cards. In this example, the traveler saves 100,000 points—a value of approximately $500 to $600 USD based on current point valuations. This makes the Premium card an effective tool for frequent guests at high-end properties like the Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya (TQO) or Hilton Cancun (CUN).
Applying for Hilton Honors INVEX in Mexico
Prospective cardholders should evaluate their current financial standing before applying. Since these are co-branded cards through INVEX Banco, approval depends on your credit history and income within the Mexican market. Unlike US-based Hilton cards from American Express, these cards are specifically tailored to the local banking ecosystem and currency.
To begin the process, you can check your eligibility through INVEX Banco’s digital portal. It is a good idea to review your annual travel and dining spend to see if the Premium tier’s milestones are attainable. If your annual spend on groceries, gas, and restaurants exceeds $200,000 MXN, the Premium card’s 5x multiplier and the anniversary free night award likely provide a high return on investment. If you spend less, the standard INVEX card is a more conservative choice that still provides a path to Silver status.
“Our continuous strategy is reflected in the incorporation of Hilton, a global leader in hospitality,” stated Jean Marc Mercier, CEO of INVEX Grupo Financiero. “We combine our experience as a leading digital bank with the prestige of brands that place excellence and customer experience at the center of everything they do.”
Verdict: High-Spend Travelers Will Gain the Most
These cards are a strong option for Hilton loyalists in Mexico who spend heavily on travel and dining. The Premium card is particularly useful because it provides immediate Gold status and lounge access. However, the high spend requirements to trigger the welcome bonuses and anniversary nights mean these cards are most valuable for consistent, high-spending travelers.
To maximize these benefits, compare your current monthly expenses against the card’s tier requirements. You can access the application through the INVEX website or their mobile app.
