New Hilton Istanbul Airport Hotel Opens for Transit Travelers
The new Hilton Istanbul Airport hotel is now open. Discover room details, runway views, and how to use Hilton Honors points at this new IST location.
Inside the New IST Property
Hilton opened the Hilton Istanbul Airport (IST) today, marking the brand’s 100th hotel in Türkiye. The hotel is located adjacent to the airport grounds and serves as a primary option for travelers moving through one of the busiest aviation hubs in the world.
The Hilton Istanbul Airport (IST) has 485 rooms and suites. Many of these rooms offer direct views of the runways. For business travelers, the suites provide separate living areas and dedicated workspaces. Each room includes high-speed internet and intuitive climate controls to help guests settle in quickly.
“Hilton has been welcoming guests across Türkiye for over 70 years, and the opening of Hilton Istanbul Airport as our 100th hotel in Türkiye marks another important milestone in our proud history here,” said David Kelly, senior vice president, Continental Europe, Hilton. He noted that the location is strategic for guests who want seamless connectivity.
Dining at OXBO and Wellness Options
The hotel introduces the OXBO dining brand to Türkiye for the first time. This brand consists of three separate venues: a restaurant, a café, and a 24-hour bar. The menu uses locally sourced ingredients and focuses on regional Turkish flavors. The café is an option for quick meals, while the 24-hour bar is useful for travelers arriving on late-night flights from different time zones.
To help guests recover from long flights, the hotel provides several wellness facilities. These include:
- A 24/7 fitness center
- An indoor swimming pool
- A sauna and a Turkish bath
- A spa with three treatment rooms, including one for couples
For professional needs, the hotel has eight meeting rooms and a grand ballroom. The ballroom can hold up to 250 guests. There is also an executive lounge that overlooks the airport gates and runways.
Tolga Aytan, the general manager of Hilton Istanbul Airport, explained that the property is more than a place for a quick stopover. “It is a welcoming meeting point for business and leisure travellers, setting a new standard for airport hospitality in Türkiye,” Aytan stated.
Comparing Landside and Airside Stays
Travelers at IST often choose between staying airside or going landside. Airside hotels are located inside the terminal. These are convenient because you do not need to clear customs or immigration. However, airside spaces are often crowded and lack the quiet environment of a full-service hotel.
The Hilton is a landside property. To reach it, you must pass through passport control and collect your luggage. While this takes more time, landside stays offer a better experience for long layovers. You get access to real beds, full-service dining, and quiet rooms. This is the better choice for any layover longer than six hours.
Maximizing Hilton Honors at IST
Members of the Hilton Honors program can use points to stay at this new location. You can transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to Hilton Honors at a 1:2 ratio. This is a fast way to build a balance for a stay.
Hilton Honors offers different advantages than its competitors. Unlike Marriott, which often has caps on how many points you can use to top off a free night certificate, Hilton Honors offers uncapped free night certificates through certain credit cards. This makes Hilton a flexible choice for travelers who want to use earned rewards for high-end airport stays. While Hilton Honors points have a lower value per point than Hyatt points, the brand has a much larger global footprint. You can also use the “5th night free” benefit on award stays to stretch your points further.
Is the Hilton Istanbul Airport Right for Your Layover?
This hotel is a strong choice for business professionals and transit travelers who need proximity to IST without losing comfort. The location is well-connected to the city. A metro station sits directly opposite the hotel, which provides a link to the center of Istanbul. This allows you to visit the Hagia Sofia or the Blue Mosque during a long stay.
If you are a light sleeper, be aware that runway-view rooms may have more noise. However, the wellness facilities and the new OXBO dining options make the property a practical choice. You can book a room through the Hilton website or the Hilton Honors app.
