Hilton Expands in Morocco with 15 New Hotels

Hilton announces 15 new hotels in Morocco, including Waldorf Astoria Rabat Salé. Explore luxury and lifestyle stays across 10 brands by 2026.

Hilton is expanding its presence in Morocco with plans to open 15 new hotels across 10 brands, more than doubling its current portfolio in the country. The announcement includes the debut of Waldorf Astoria Rabat Salé, marking the luxury brand’s first property in Morocco, as well as new signings for Tapestry Collection by Hilton and Curio Collection by Hilton.

Inside the New Property

The Waldorf Astoria Rabat Salé, scheduled to open in 2026, will feature 55 guest rooms and suites in the Mohammed VI Tower, Morocco’s tallest building. The hotel’s design incorporates celestial motifs, with dining options including Aldabaran by chef Alain Ducasse. Additional amenities include a spa, private art collection, and 1,300 square metres of event space.

Tapestry Collection by Hilton will debut in Casablanca and Chefchaouen in 2028. The Casablanca property will offer 90 rooms and a rooftop bar, while the Chefchaouen hotel will have 100 rooms with panoramic valley views. Both will emphasize locally inspired design and cultural immersion.

Curio Collection by Hilton is expanding in Marrakech with Eden Palm Marrakech, set to open in 2029. The 62-room property will include wellness facilities, a spa, and event spaces. Hilton is also entering coastal cities like Nador and Tetouan with DoubleTree by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn properties, offering modern amenities and proximity to local attractions.

How It Stacks Up Against Competitors

Hilton’s expansion in Morocco positions it to compete with other luxury brands like Marriott and Hyatt, which also have growing presences in the region. The company’s focus on diverse brand offerings—from luxury (Waldorf Astoria) to lifestyle (Tapestry Collection)—caters to a range of traveler preferences.

Hilton Honors members may benefit from the expanded portfolio, with opportunities to earn and redeem points across new properties. While Hilton’s point value (~0.5-0.6 cents) is lower than Hyatt’s (~1.7 cents), the program offers uncapped free night certificates and no blackout dates on standard room awards. This could appeal to frequent travelers seeking flexibility.

The Bottom Line

Hilton’s expansion in Morocco provides more luxury and lifestyle options for travelers, particularly in emerging destinations like Chefchaouen and Tetouan. The 15 new hotels will create over 2,000 local jobs and enhance the country’s tourism infrastructure. While the focus on mid-scale and upscale brands may not appeal to budget travelers, the addition of Waldorf Astoria and Tapestry Collection offers premium choices. For Hilton Honors members, the expanded portfolio increases redemption options, though point value remains lower than some competitors. Travelers seeking unique cultural experiences in Morocco should monitor openings in 2026-2029.
